How much does a custom Minecraft plugin cost?
What decides the price of a custom Minecraft plugin, typical price ranges from small tweaks to full game modes, and how to get an accurate quote.
It's the first question every server owner asks, and the honest answer is: it depends on what the plugin has to do. A command that gives players a kit and a full RPG class system are both "a plugin", but one takes an hour and the other takes weeks. Here's what actually moves the price, and the ranges I see on real projects.
What decides the price
- Scope: how many features, commands, menus and edge cases the plugin has to handle.
- Integrations: hooking into your economy, ranks, holograms, PlaceholderAPI or other plugins takes extra work and testing.
- Configurability: messages, values and permissions your staff can edit without touching code.
- Data: anything saved between restarts (player stats, progress, claims) needs storage and migrations.
- Visuals: custom items, models or a resource pack that the plugin works with.
- Deadline: a rush job pushes other work back, so it usually costs more.
Typical ranges
These are rough ranges from my own projects, in US dollars. Every project still gets its own fixed quote.
- Small tweaks and configs (a command, a fix, a setting): from $10 to about $60.
- Medium systems (a crate system, a custom boss, a shop GUI): roughly $80 to $300.
- Large systems and game modes (classes, magic, mini-games, progression): $300 to $1000 or more.
How to get an accurate quote
The more precise the request, the more precise the price. Tell the developer your server software and version (Paper 1.21, for example), describe what players will see and do, list the plugins it has to work with, and share your budget and deadline. A good developer will tell you what fits the budget instead of quietly cutting corners.
What should be included
- A fixed price agreed before any work starts.
- The source code, so you aren't locked to one developer.
- A couple of revisions and free fixes for bugs found during production.
That's how I work on every project. If you have an idea, send it with your budget and you'll get a fixed quote on Discord.
